Phobos (Subhuman) is the first part of a two game series. It is categorized in the adventure/mystery genre but it also includes elements of pure action as well as psychological horror. The plot is uniquely based on current sociopolitical standards combined with ancient astronomical indisputable clues. It constructs a fictional and at the same time strangely familiar world for the player to experience.
The name Phobos (means fear in Greek) and has a dual meaning in the game. It points to the amount of fear caused by the mysterious conditions but also to one of Mars's moons. The potato shaped “Phobos” where true photographs have revealed unexplained phenomena around it in the recent past.
In the game's world we find ourselves playing with two heroes (Emmanuel and Danae) trying to reveal a great mystery surrounding the modern city of Athens, Greece, the birthplace of philosophy. Behind the curtain, something or somebody (we are going to tell you that here of course and destroy the beauty ;)..you have to discover it yourselves), is trying to repeat successful ancient patterns and change the future of human kind. Its target is clear! One of the biggest Global problems! Overpopulation.
The roots of the game, the conception of it make it different from others, as it includes and emphasises on the element of empathy. Empathy is the force that drives us to connect with people and without it, society as a whole can be dismantled, eradicated in order to be replaced with a balanced structure, a clear, pyramidal order. Things that happen, clues that you find can make you wonder if this is already happening...In your everyday life. If this is where it leads to.
Of course a game is entertainment not a lesson of history or philosophy but here at Underdog we find that true stories, the ones which are based in real-life events are the most entertaining. Besides our life is our story and all the peoples stories, all these billions of lives, have given birth to every plot idea that we have ever seen, played. Witnessed. At the end we want you thinking “hmmm.. this could really happen”, instead of laughing and thinking “there is no way on Earth, this fairy tale will come to pass”.
We are trying to make the game's world as attractive, mysterious and entertaining as a gamer would expect and give you and interactive experience that will leave you satisfied, will make some of your hair stand up at times and maybe with some good questions (we hope ;))
